Our Program

Meals and Snacks

Karen’s Kozy Korner is a Peanut Free Facility.

We provide your child with breakfast, morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. All meals are home cooked! We do our best to provide healthy options for your child with occasional “treats”.

Outdoor Play

All children under the ages of 6 years old must be supervised by an adult when outside.

We play in a fenced in area, unless we take the children for a walk.

Outside play is one of the most important activities your child will participate in and we make every effort to be outdoors whenever possible. Children must wear closed toe shoes; bring sunscreen in the summer, and appropriate clothes in the winter.

Rest Time

Students 5 years old and under must lie down during “quiet time”. We provide a mat and pillow; your child is encouraged to bring a favorite blanket and sleep toy to keep here; these items will be laundered weekly by us. Naptime is generally from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.; if children are unable to sleep, a book will be offered.

Before and After School Program

We invite parents to send their older children to our program; students are dropped off for breakfast and take the bus to the local elementary school; they return in the afternoon for a snack and the “HOMEWORK CLUB”. The older children generally attend on all school vacations, as well as snow days.

Field Trips

Because of the varied age group in a Family Group Childcare program, field trips are more challenging. However, we do our best to schedule at least one per quarter. From bowling to the beach to the local Children's Museum, we are always looking for fresh ideas and of course always welcome parents to chaperone!

Special Needs

Karen's Kozy Korner complies with the American Disabilities Act and will provide care to any and all children with disabilities who wish to attend. This includes emotional as well as physical needs. We work closely with Rockingham County Childcare Services, PTAN and other outside services when seeking help and intervention for ALL children with special needs. Parents need to let us know when there are issues at home that may affect the child emotionally, physically and socially; as providers who care very deeply it is important that we can identify behavioral issues that may be caused by something external.

All matters related to your child and their developmental growth are kept in the strictest of confidence and are only discussed with outside sources when given written parental permission.
